Volna is an open-source Android music instrument developed by Tasos Kleisas as a Bokontep music project. This policy describes the information handled by the Volna application and this website.
Summary: Volna does not collect, share or sell personal data. It has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Settings, imported wavetables and loop state stay on your device. The internet permission is used only when you explicitly enable RTP-MIDI to a host you choose.
No account or personal profile
Volna does not require an account, sign-in, email address, or personal profile. The application does not include advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or third-party tracking SDKs.
Data kept on your device
Volna stores the following locally on your device:
- Instrument, effect, tuning, scale, register, and interface settings.
- Imported wavetable files and their display names.
- RTP-MIDI host, port, and enabled state.
Loop recordings are held in memory for the built-in 60-second loop recorder and are not uploaded. Local settings and imported files are removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall it.
Data collection and sharing
- No personal information is collected.
- No account or sign-in is required.
- Settings, scales, registers, and imported wavetables stay in private app storage.
- Loop recordings stay in memory and are not uploaded.
- No analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs are included.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties.
Network access
The Android INTERNET permission is used only when you explicitly enable RTP-MIDI. In that mode Volna sends MIDI packets to the host and port you configure. The app does not operate a cloud service and does not send telemetry to the developer or to third parties.
Permissions
Volna requests internet access for the optional RTP-MIDI connection and exposes the standard Android MIDI device service. Motion and magnetic-field sensors are read on the device for live modulation only. Volna does not request microphone, camera, location, contacts, or photo access; a wavetable file is read only when you explicitly choose to import it.
Sensors and MIDI
Volna reads motion and magnetic-field sensors only while modulation sources are enabled, and uses them in real time for sound control. Sensor values are not stored or transmitted. MIDI input and output are used to receive and send musical data. No sensor or MIDI data is sent to the developer.
Children's privacy
Volna is a general-purpose music tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. The app does not contain ads, purchases, or social features.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new update date.
